The new Detroit School of the Arts, a magnificent building built known for it's high academic standards and performing arts has renamed the Recital Hall after Aaliyah in honor of her memory. 2.25.08 Stephen "Static" Garrett
The Haughton family would like to send their condolences and prayers to the family of Stephen 'Static' Garrett, who passed away on February 25, 2008. Static was close to Aaliyah and the Haughton Family. He worked with Aaliyah on much of her most memorable music. “Stephen Garrett will be sorely missed, not only as the writer/producer/artist, but as the good person that he was. God Bless, and may he rest in Heavenly peace.”

The Haughton Family and the Aaliyah Memorial Fund are proud to support the Aaliyah's Angels... A significant contribution has been made on behalf of each of the individual Angels who walked today in Aaliyah's name at the 2007 Revlon Run/Walk For Women in New York.
For the 4th consecutive year, Aaliyah's fans have walked in her memory in this event which was created to fight breast cancer through efforts to increase research, counseling, and outreach programs. Losing her grandmother to the disease, Aaliyah was an active participant in this very important cause.
To support or donate to Aaliyah's Cancer Awareness Angels click on any of the Angels participating and donate on their page. Please join us in fighting to find a cure for breast cancer as well as remembering an inspirational, determined, and positive role model... Aaliyah.

8.25.06 AALIYAH'S WEEPING WILLOW TREE AND MEMORIAL PLAQUE IN CENTRAL PARK Central Park Conservancy and New York City have dedicated a Weeping Willow tree to our beloved Aaliyah on the pond in Central Park, located right next to Strawberry Fields. This Weeping Willow tree was endowed in memory of Aaliyah by her family. The tree is located on the shoreline of the Lake in the area known as Cherry Hill. This is a young tree and will grow to be a delicate, yet magnificent, tree...
In addition to Aaliyah's Weeping Willow Tree in Central Park, a beautiful plaque has been added in Aaliyah's memory, by her family. The plaque is located directly South of the Bethesda Fountain and Terrace. Walk past the band shell/stage and down the long path with benches - you will end at a large compass on the ground (pictured below). The plaque is just to the left of the North point.

"To all of the fans who love and cherish Aaliyah, we would like to thank you for
your continued love, compassion and tenderness as another year goes by without
Baby Girl. It is still very hard to believe that 4 years have passed since that
dreadful day. It has not gotten easier as we continue on with our days still
missing Aaliyah but knowing she is still with us. We all have lost so much but
Baby Girl still lives in our minds and in our hearts. She continues to give, to
love and to show that anything is possible. Because of you, her light continues
to shine bright. Thank you for not letting that light go out... We also wanted
to say thank you for all of your beautiful messages and lovely letters that have

9.28.04 Aaliyah and the Haughton family believe very strongly that everyone should exercise their right to vote, even if you think "what kind of a difference can I make". The previous presidential election was decided by just over a mere 500 votes... and a lot of the votes of African-Americans were not counted because of faulty accounting.
