  Aaliyah Memorial Recital Hall. The new Detroit School of the Arts, a magnificent building built known for it's high academic standards and performing arts has renamed the Recital Hall after Aaliyah in honor of her memory. The original founder and current principal is Dr. Denise Davis-Cotton.

2.25.08   Stephen "Static" Garrett
  The Haughton family would like to send their condolences and prayers to the family of Stephen 'Static' Garrett, who passed away on February 25, 2008. Static was close to Aaliyah and the Haughton Family. He worked with Aaliyah on much of her most memorable music. “Stephen Garrett will be sorely missed, not only as the writer/producer/artist, but as the good person that he was. God Bless, and may he rest in Heavenly peace.”

  Rashad and the Haughton family send their regards and condolences to the Ledger family. “Our thoughts are with the Ledger family as they mourn their loss and celebrate Heath’s remarkable achievements in his life. Heath will be truly missed.”

  The request was for a permanent floral design with Egyptian inspiration of gold, reds, copper, black etc... Aaliyah's favorite colors.   The Haughton Family and the Aaliyah Memorial Fund are proud to support the Aaliyah's Angels... A significant contribution has been made on behalf of each of the individual Angels who walked today in Aaliyah's name at the 2007 Revlon Run/Walk For Women in New York.
  For the 4th consecutive year, Aaliyah's fans have walked in her memory in this event which was created to fight breast cancer through efforts to increase research, counseling, and outreach programs. Losing her grandmother to the disease, Aaliyah was an active participant in this very important cause.

  Central Park Conservancy and New York City have dedicated a Weeping Willow tree to our beloved Aaliyah on the pond in central park. It is located right next to Strawberry Fields. Please CLICK HERE to see a map of the location. Those who may not be able to make the trip up to Ferncliff can visit and leave flowers, notes, etc.

9.28.04   Aaliyah and the Haughton family believe very strongly that everyone should exercise their right to vote, even if you think "what kind of a difference can I make". The previous presidential election was decided by just over a mere 500 votes... and a lot of the votes of African-Americans were not counted because of faulty accounting. This year more is being done than ever to ensure every vote is counted. It is very easy for a person to register to vote. Just click HERE to sign up... it takes only 2 minutes.

9.23.04   The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals.

Aaliyah was an animal lover and she would want us all to give back in some way. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on "feed an animal in need" for free. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising. Please pass the link along to your friends. Together, we can make a difference.
